About Misa Metal Processing, Inc.

Headquartered in Portland, Tennessee, MISA Metal Processing, Inc. (“MMP”) is a leading toll processor, experienced in light and heavy gauge slitting of flat roll steel and processing of aluminum and steel coils into Class 1 Blanks, servicing a variety of aluminum and steel consuming industries. As an industry leader, MMP strives to exceed our customer’s expectations in every way.

Our Story

MISA Metal Processing, Inc. (“MMP”) was formed in 2013 by combining three previously stand alone toll processing companies that were part of the Marubeni-Itochu Steel America, Inc. (“MISA”) group. MMP is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of MISA.

Our Kentucky operation was founded in 1986 in Winchester, KY followed by a second facility that was added in 1996 in Louisville, KY. In 2006, the Winchester facility was closed and the Louisville location was expanded which has two slitters. The Tennessee operation was founded in 1991 in Portland, TN with two slitters as well.

The Alabama operation started out in 1997 as the MISA Metal Blanking (MMB) plant in Howell, Michigan. MMB expanded its territory by opening a new plant in Birmingham, Alabama in 2003. In 2012, the Michigan facility was closed, and the Birmingham location was expanded. The following year it became part of the MISA Metal Processing merger.

In 2015, MMP constructed a greenfield operation in Forest, MS with one slitter. Today, MMP operates five slitting lines and two blanking lines in four states servicing customers in the Southeast and Midwest United States.

We’ve also worked with the local VA to provide gift cards for meals for homeless veterans and have collected items for community residents in times of need – including when a tornado destroyed a local neighborhood, providing necessities and, when a local school burned, collecting school supplies for the classrooms and various local food and winter coat drives.

MMP collaborated with the Department of Energy at their local Industrial Assessment Centers for each of our four plants. The objective of the IAC is to identify, evaluate, and recommend opportunities to conserve energy and reduce energy. MMP is currently implementing the IAC “Assessment Recommendations” to meet our Environmental, Social and Governance goals in our journey to net-zero emissions.
